Leadville has been named a winner of the 2018 national Partners in Preservation Campaign, which recognizes Main Streets that have played a role in the development of a more diverse nation.
Leadville will receive $150,000 for the rehabilitation of the Tabor Opera House and $10,000 via a mini-grant challenge for having the most new voters the last week of the voting competition. The 11 winning sites received a total of $1.6 million in grants to fund their respective preservation projects.
The Partners in Preservation program was created by American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, to increase the public’s awareness of the importance of historic preservation and to preserve America’s historic and cultural places. The program also hopes to inspire long-term support from local citizens for the historic places at the heart of their communities.
